Ingredients for Batter
2 cup white wheat flour
1 cup Sugar
2 tsps. Unsweetened cocoa
2 tsps. Baking powder
1 tsps. Baking soda
½ tsps. Salt
1 cup Beer (Guinness)
1 cup cooking Oil
1 Egg, moderately beaten
Ingredients for Syrup
1 tsp. Unsweetened cocoa
½ cup Beer
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup Granulated sugar
Method of preparation
- In the preparation of the batter, combine all the dry ingredients together in a medium-size bowl and make a well-like hole at the center.
- Pour slowly the beer, the slightly beaten egg, and oil. Whisk till smooth.
- In a different bowl, mix the cocoa powder with the little beer for the syrup formation.
- Mix the remaining beer and sugar slowly and let it cook at low temperature.
- Put the batter into a 9 inch greased square pan
- Sprinkle the syrup on top of the batter and bake for 180 C and bake for at least 35- 40 minutes.
- Chill for 5 minutes and remove the sides of the cake from the pan and put it on the wire mesh.
- Spread the pudding evenly by using a knife to level it.
- Serve warm or cool.
