Chocolate Malt Cake is the perfect recipe for celebrating all sorts of occasions. This chocolate layered cake with a coat of chocolate frosting is a total dream come true.
INGREDIENTS:
Malted chocolate cake:
- Boiling water 1 cup
- Vanilla extract 2 tsp
- Eggs 2 large
- Vegetable oil ½ cup
- Milk 1 cup
- Espresso powder 1 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
- Baking soda 1 ½ tsp
- Baking powder 2 tsp
- Unsweetened cocoa powder ¾ cup
- Sugar 2 cups
- Malted milk powder ¼ cup
- All-purpose flour 1 ¾ cups
Malted chocolate buttercream frosting:
- Espresso powder ½ tsp
- Vanilla extract
- 2 tsp
- Cup ½ cup
- Confectioner’s sugar 4 ½ cups
- Malted milk powder ¼
- Unsweetened cocoa p1 cup
- butter 1 ½ cups (softened)
PROCEDURE:
For cake:
Step 1:
Firstly, preheat your oven to 350-degree F. Prepare two pans lined with parchment paper.
Step 2:
Secondly, add flour, malted milk powder, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, salt, and espresso powder to a large bowl. Mix all the ingredients until combined.
Step 3:
Thirdly, add milk, oil, vanilla, and eggs to the flour mixture and mix on medium speed until combined. While mixing the batter slowly, add boiling water to the batter. Most importantly, mix the ingredients at high speed. The cake batter will be thin.
Step 4:
After that, distribute cake batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake the batter for 30-35 minutes. Remove the pans from a=oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
For the malted chocolate buttercream frosting:
Step 1:
Firstly, add cocoa and malted milk powder to a large bowl. Whisk through to remove any lumps and cream together with butter until well-combined.
Step 2:
Secondly, add sugar and milk to the cocoa mixture by adding 1 cup of sugar followed by 1 tablespoon of milk. Now turn the mixer onto a high speed for a minute and beat well.
Step 3:
After that, add espresso powder and vanilla extract and combine well.
Step 4:
In conclusion, coat the entire cake with malted chocolate frosting and decorate with crushed Maltesers.
