We will be the first to admit it. Blogging about chocolate is a delightful way to escape the rigors of this ever-changing world, especially the world of politics with so much that has happened on the political front here in the United States as of late.
Perhaps that is why it came as a surprise when a quick search for accounts about chocolate on the web service FollowerWonk revealed a result that made us do a double-take:
A quick Google search confirmed the result. Nancy Pelosi is a chocolate freak! We found articles and interviews dating as far back as 2010 of Nancy Pelosi talking about her love of chocolate.
She even has her own Chocolate Mousse recipe, we found at OneFortheTable.com
While it may seem trivial, maybe it is pivotal? Nancy credits chocolate as her secret weapon to get through those long meetings. (source: https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2010/04/chocolate_a_womans_notso_secre.html )
Her Morning Ice Cream Habit
I’ve been eating dark chocolate ice cream for breakfast for as long as I can remember. I don’t see it as different from having a cup of coffee. The flavors keep getting darker and darker, which I love. Double Rainbow has one called Ultra Chocolate; you can just imagine how delicious that is. And Three Twins, I like their Bittersweet Chocolate. Sugar cones are my thing. – https://www.foodandwine.com/news/nancy-pelosi-traces-her-food-heritage-risotto-eats-dark-chocolate-ice-cream-breakfast-every-day

Could you trust a world leader who is not open about their dark chocolate addiction?
No matter where you stand along the political aisle, whether you are a Nancy Pelosi fan or not, perhaps chocolate is a subject where we can all establish common ground and come together as a nation, and a world.
